J'avoue, j'ai rigolay:

--- Citer ---Hello, my name is Tero Särkijärvi.

I deserted my long time faction and all of you guys and I'm playing eAphyxious and pDeneghra.

--- Citer --- Morvahna might be the caster that has the clearest counter in the game. Saying that she does have lots of good match ups as well and her bad match ups are pretty contained within specific armies which is good from a match up perspective. Upkeep removal is the most obvious counter to Morvahna, she really doesn’t like purification… I would say that she only auto loses to Harby though - against other purification casters she still has a clear game, even if she can’t play like she usually does. This is mainly because other casters don’t like casting purification (it costs lots of fury and removes their own upkeeps as well). In fact I have yet to lose to a purification caster (only played 4 games against pKreoss and eVayl though).  Still it’s obviously not a match up you want.

When it comes to upkeep removal that is not purification there are usually ways to work around it. The second worst thing is upkeep removal spells (hex blast) on casters with access to arc nodes (outside menoth that is only the Goreshades that I’ve never seen played and 3Gaspy though). Other important examples are of course eEiryss and the withershadow combine. The trick here is to know about the opponents threat ranges and to either keep your regrowth units out of it or to be sure to kill his models that remove upkeeps after they’ve popped it. Watch out for movement tricks and buffs like TK, deathride etc. that will increase this range.

Usually it’s possible to come back from losing regrowth once. Just play your unit a bit more conservatively than you ordinarily would and put back regrowth and get back there next turn. This will however eat both Morvahna’s and the units activation for a turn so it will set you back a fair bit, but sometimes you have to plan around it. Also remember that it’s only 10 points of your army. Even if this unit can kill whole armies you still have lots of other stuff around so the enemy won’t be able to run over you just because they’ve removed regrowth, especially as they will usually need to extend themselves quite far to do this. Make sure you have models that can kill the enemy models capable of stripping upkeeps after they’ve gone in however. If you lose regrowth multiple turns in a row the game goes downhill fast.

Another thing that can really hurt you is remove from play effects (since you can only bring back destroyed models). Now that the gatorman witch doctor has arrived many of these effects (especially Cryx ones) don’t work anymore which has made Morvahna much more playable. Things to look out for are for example hellmouth (try to avoid this match up if you can) and Scytheans (animus). If they want to RFP trackers make sure that you spread them out and make him pay for each tracker that he removes. Trading a few trackers for a heavy is a very nice trade for you so be sure to be able to counter his models.

One other thing that can counter you is armies that can remove the whole unit in one turn. This is usually very hard to pull off though with you having some guys 18” from your frontline behind the rest of the army and hopefully stealth and tough as well. Still armies with extreme infantry clearing potential like pKrueger should be avoided if possible.
