Guildmachine Warball convention 2019

The next 3-day Warmachine and Guildball con I'm going to is in Hamburg, July 26-28.  I encourage you to come along, as they will be doing a large variety of tournaments there, including the German Masters.  The Masters is fed by lots of other tournaments within Germany, but this con will have a Last Chance Qualifier for you to gain a slot!  The Guildball championships for Germany will also be held here.  There are 3-man and 5-man team tournaments on offer too.

The con is very cost effective because it is held on-site at a youth hostel.  The ticket, plus two nights stay, plus all your meals across the weekend only cost me €146 (£132).  Things wrap up on the Sunday around 4 pm.

Conversation about the event can be found here:
https://www.facebook.com/events/305162760317141/

Buying the ticket is a bit tricky, so use these instructions:

1.  Register on the T3 tournament website:
https://www.tabletopturniere.de/t3_tournament.php?tid=22422

2.  Register for the event at that same link.

3.  After registering for the event you will receive a confirmation-mail with a link to a webform.

4.  Use the webform to let them know if you want to sleep and/or eat at the venue and who should be your roommates.

5.  After feeding the webform with your data and wishes, it will calculate the amount of money you have to transfer to the organiser, El Leutzi.

6. A confirmation mail send to you will include the total sum, as well as my Bank- or PayPal-details.

Tournois & Manifestations / ClogCon 2018 - costs and info
« le: 04 septembre 2018 à 08:33:59 »
You may have seen a few promos to attend ClogCon in 2018 (http://clogcon.com/).  If you haven't been to this con before, you might be worried about costs and value.  Here's a bit of my personal expenses so you can get an idea.

Flight Heathrow to Amsterdam return:  £136
Transfer from airport to hotel:  Free
3 nights hotel stay including breakfast (2 people sharing):  £175
3 day weekend ticket including lunch:  £68
3 dinners outside the hotel:  £30

Total before beers:  £409 = €453

I hope you can see that is remarkable value for 3 full days of gaming in either Warmachine/Hordes, Guild Ball, Judgement, or Blood Bowl.  The organisers are seasoned veterans having started this con in 2013 and I've been to every one in support of the American-style gaming convention here in Europe.  The hotel it's held in allows you to sleep right above the gaming hall so it's super convenient to play.  And the hotel's breakfast and lunch buffets are truly remarkable.  You'll feel like you are at a wedding with the high level of variety and quality.

  Interested?  Then register here:  http://www.clogcon.com/registration/

And hurry to reserve your rooms because the reduced convention rate ends on Thursday.  You don't have to pay up front to reserve the rooms, so even if you are remotely interested, reserve the rooms now and then just cancel later if you have to.  Hope to see you there!

Discussions sur le jeu et les rumeurs / WTC 2017 seeks referees.
« le: 11 avril 2017 à 18:31:29 »
Now that all the team spots have been locked in for the 2017 edition of the WTC, the Committee is seeking volunteers to be part of our Warmachine and Hordes referee team. We are looking for a broad range of nationalities to be on the team. We are also looking for people who have a good grasp of the rules and preferably have experience being in a similar role at larger events.

We are seeking 7 members for the WTC itself and need 1 member to run the Solo Masters.

As part of the effort, volunteers will have their room and board paid for. Please email us at committee@wmh-wtc.com to let us know of your interest and a bit about your background. Thanks very much.

This year's schedule is packed full of tournaments, such as the ClogCon Masters, the Team Challenge, Champions, Hardcore (!), multiple Steamrollers, and of course the ClogCon Invitational for which you can qualify for by winning tournaments at ClogCon.

We will also have ample space for casual gaming on all 3 days and will be hosting a ClogCon version of Iron Arena. The current tournament schedule can be found in the link http://www.clogcon.com/schedule/

ClogCon 2017 will be held in Amsterdam, at the Hotel Schiphol A4. There is a free shuttle bus that leaves every 40 minutes, taking you to the hotel and back, to Schiphol Airport. The hotel has several types of rooms ranging from 1 person to 4 person rooms and include breakfast. Be sure to use the reservation form to get the special convention room rate.  http://www.clogcon.com/hotel-booking/

By the way guys - what did you all think of Mark 3 now that we played it competitively here?

9
Hi Fabrice, here is some feedback from us:

1.  Event was well run and on time.  That was really helpful to us who had to travel on Sunday evening.

2.  Venue is great - lots of room and good A/C.  Great to have some room elsewhere for eating.

3.  Lunches were OK.

4.  The breakfasts could be improved or just removed.  France has so many croissants and pain au chocolat available - having fresh baskets of that would be much better.  Also better to have fresh coffee brought in rather than instant.

5.  The plan to have dinner at the nearby bistro was excellent.  This should be definitely repeated next year and perhaps planned better in advance.

6.  Great to have the drinks brought around the hall during the course of the day via the drinks cart.

7.  Pairing format is good.  Next year though, I'd separate the French teams and non-French teams out when doing the pairings and then alternate pulling out names from each category.  That way we can have be sure to have as many France/non-France pairings as possible in a seeding pod.

8.  Be more clear to the Captains in advance if we need to bring chess clocks and/or print out our lists.

9.  Terrain was good; a few tables could have used 1-2 more pieces per the new Steamroller rules.

10.  If tables are not 48" x 48" exactly, they should be taped off or at least an announcement made so people are aware of the need to measure them.

11.  The dense fog terrain pieces were a good idea, but not practical for play.  They needed less fuzz on them so that models could sit on top of them securely.

12.  Any chance to get WiFi in the hall?

13.  Be careful of the date next year to minimise overlap with Lock and Load and also the ETC held in north England.

That's it for now.  Overall a great event and the English team was very pleased to have come.  Thank you all!

Hey everyone,

The special thing about ClogCon is that it is for everyone! We do have tournaments (plus the European Invitational!), but we also have loads of tables set aside for casual play and informal pick-up tournaments. ClogCon will be welcoming to all types of players and so if your meta has never been to a con, this is the one for them to try out. We talked about the benefits of this style of con to casual players on the Page5.de podcast (in English). Listen to it here: https://soundcloud.com/page5/tabletop-hooligans-international-episode-3

Hopefully the information in the podcast will help you understand what we have in store for everyone.  Please post here if you have any questions!

CLOGCON 2016 SCHEDULE
We are particularly pleased at the event schedule that we have put together. This was based on feedback that we received last year. We also give people out of contention some fun events to try out. Plus plenty of team tournaments added based on your demand!

For less serious competitors, we also offer fun-based tournaments. And for this year we are expanding our casual play section so that people who just want to come and relax at the con will feel very welcome. We’ll help you find pick up games and also start small Scrambles (informal, short tournaments) whenever there are enough players interested in playing them.

CLOGCON 2016 MOVES TO AMSTERDAM - New venue is a Schiphol Airport hotel

After last year's great event we want to step up our game and bring ClogCon 2016 to a new level. This means you will be seeing a lot of changes in the coming months but the biggest is our move from Rotterdam to Amsterdam. The new location is in Hotel Schiphol A4, which is adjacent to Amsterdam Schiphol airport.

The new location means we have a way bigger game room, easier access from Schiphol (shuttle service and free parking), hotel facilities with rooms for 1 to 4 persons, and only a 15 min train ride to the center of Amsterdam.

A few pictures of the new location can be found at: http://www.hotelschiphol.nl/en/function-rooms/fairs

Tournois & Manifestations / The 2016 European Invitational at ClogCon
« le: 21 décembre 2015 à 11:39:31 »
We are pleased to announce the confirmed Qualifiers for the 2016 European Invitational held at ClogCon. For full rules, the list of tournaments, and the bracketed system, visit the European Invitational webpage.

http://www.clogcon.com/eu-invitational-2016/

This year we decided to increase the number of Qualifiers up to 32 to allow even more nations to fully participate. We've introduced a few Wildcard tournaments to help fill any gaps in the brackets. Otherwise the successful format, as seen at this year's ClogCon, was left intact.

We hope you have a chance to participate in as many of these fine tournament Qualifiers as possible and look forward to seeing you at ClogCon in November.

So it looks like the Paris and London wargaming calendars have become so full (with many international events as well) that this series may have become unneeded!  Consequently we don't have a Paris event set up at the moment.  However, we do have a London Masters event set up in January if you want to come along anyway.  Here are the details:

SmogCon Shakedown Masters
Saturday January 9th, 2016
Registration 8 AM
Dice fly 9 AM
Award ceremony around 7:30 PM
Location:  Dark Sphere - 186 Hercules Rd, London SE1 7LD
Cost:  £10
Tickets: http://www.darksphere.co.uk/p.php?p=66476

This will be run using the Masters rule set at 50 points. Link to the rules is http://privateerpress.com/organized-play/masters

32 spots are available but if we get more than 16 players, we will break the group into 2 flights to ensure that not more than 4 rounds are run.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Tournois & Manifestations / Thank you for supporting ClogCon!
« le: 15 décembre 2015 à 21:00:21 »
Thank you everyone who came to ClogCon 2015 and helped support its growth into a major European event.  We were so grateful you came, had a chance to join in the fun, and contribute to the great competition that we had at the event.  Every event was full of players who were having fun and we were pleased that you all enjoyed it.  So thank you for making the effort and it was our pleasure to host you.

Now, we always are looking to improve, so if you could please send us your feedback, we would appreciate it.  You can post either here or email us privately at info AT clogcon DOT com

  Thanks again.

Barring any last minute problems with work, I'm planning to be there to help celebrate Cryxmas.

--Norbert

I'm super pleased about it!  I've been hearing back from people around the web and we have lots of nationalities coming.  Sounds like a great show is in the making!

  Thanks guys!  :)

Have you made plans to come to ClogCon yet?  It's just 6 weeks away on December 11-13.  Just before Cryxmas, it is the present you deserve to cap off your year.

This is ClogCon's 3rd year and has grown even stronger with every passing year. This year for just one entrance fee of just 50 Euro, gamers can expect nearly 24 hour gaming over the course of Friday - Sunday. For full details about the event, its location, and the latest news, visit our website. http://www.clogcon.com/

ClogCon will have every official format for the game of Warmachine and Hordes that Privateer Press currently endorses, including the soon to discontinued Hardcore format.  This means players will be able to compete for official Hardcore pins, the Masters trophy, and an official Iron Gauntlet pin.

In addition, ClogCon is host to the European Invitational, which only invites players who have won major tournaments around Europe. But fear not, one spot in the Invitational is reserved here in our Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ). Details on the Invitational are here:  http://www.clogcon.com/eu-invitational-2015/

ClogCon is also not just for tournament players. It is for anyone who enjoys playing the game. We have special tables set aside for players to find one another and play more informal games and win prizes. We'll also be setting up informal Scramblers where we will light off small (3 round) mini-tournaments in a relaxed atmosphere. So do bring all of your friends/clubmates because there is something for everyone at ClogCon.

The Full ClogCon 2015 Schedule of Events can be found here, http://www.clogcon.com/schedule/ Have any questions?  Just get in touch with us, but don't miss this great American-style convention and meet all kinds of international European players.

I know this is close to the proposed London/Paris dual event which takes place in January and March 2016, but I thought I'd let you know about our team event in case a bunch of Frenchies wanted to come over.  Here are the details, but in short it is 3-man teams using WTC rules:

Warmachine: London Team Tournament Ticket

The Cross Gaming Club in association with Dark Sphere presents

THE LONDON TEAM TOURNAMENT
Saturday 14th November

Prepare yourselves for the third annual Warmachine and Hordes London Team Tournament, returning to the calendar like an out of control steam train barreling down the track towards you.

Up to 16 teams of three players will take part in a standard Steamroller style tournament lasting up to four rounds. The games will be played using the Deathclock timing variant, as per the Steamroller pack.

Each player must bring two 50 point lists, and the event is Divide and Conquer (1), meaning that each list must be used at least once throughout the day. Note that for the purposes of Divide and Conquer, the event is assumed to be four rounds long.

Warcasters and Warlocks may not be repeated across a team, and players lists are character restricted.
However, the team is neither faction nor character restricted, so you may (for example) include two Cygnar players with Gorman di Wulfe in one each of their lists, but only one player may use Major (epic) Victoria Haley.
Each team has a nominated captain who is responsible for filling out paperwork and ensuring data is entered correctly. It is recommended that the captain buy the team's ticket.

Team captains must submit all 6 lists for their team two weeks ahead of the tournament to ensure they are correct, and to allow us to publish them in advance to encourage inter-team rivalry and gentle ribbing. And outright rudeness.

Lists must be submitted to tournaments@crossgamingclub.com before midnight on Friday 30th September.
Please submit all lists using the Steamroller PDFs found here: http://tinyurl.com/SRsheets
...as it will make our lives much easier when checking them, and yours much easier when filling them out.
Please ensure that team names are included in the player name section alongside the player's actual name.

A player matching system is used for this event, essentially forming a mini-game before the games begin, inspired by the WTC Matching system.

The team captains roll-off, with the winner deciding to be either the first team or second team.
Once this has been decided, the first team nominates one player, who shows their lists to the second team.
The second team then puts up two players, who show their lists to the first team.
The first team decides which of these players they would like their nominated player to play, which sets the first matchup.
The second team now choses the match ups from the remaining four players.
Because this process favours the second team, the first team then picks which of the nominated tables each match is played on.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask! The easiest way to get hold of the event organisers (Tom Hutchings and Norbert Brunhuber) is via the Cross Gaming Club forums (http://www.crossgamingclub.com/forum) or the Cross Gaming Club Facebook page (facebook.com/crossgc), where we'll endeavour to answer your questions as quickly as we can.

A ticket to this event is for a three player team, and players do not need to purchase their tickets individually.

--Norbert

Thank you again for taking your time and money to come to London and play in our event.  It was made better by having you there!

And thank you all the guys who watched the stream.  That made us tournament organisers feel good as well.  :)
