Guildmachine Warball convention 2019

The next 3-day Warmachine and Guildball con I'm going to is in Hamburg, July 26-28.  I encourage you to come along, as they will be doing a large variety of tournaments there, including the German Masters.  The Masters is fed by lots of other tournaments within Germany, but this con will have a Last Chance Qualifier for you to gain a slot!  The Guildball championships for Germany will also be held here.  There are 3-man and 5-man team tournaments on offer too.

The con is very cost effective because it is held on-site at a youth hostel.  The ticket, plus two nights stay, plus all your meals across the weekend only cost me €146 (£132).  Things wrap up on the Sunday around 4 pm.

Conversation about the event can be found here:
https://www.facebook.com/events/305162760317141/

Buying the ticket is a bit tricky, so use these instructions:

1.  Register on the T3 tournament website:
https://www.tabletopturniere.de/t3_tournament.php?tid=22422

2.  Register for the event at that same link.

3.  After registering for the event you will receive a confirmation-mail with a link to a webform.

4.  Use the webform to let them know if you want to sleep and/or eat at the venue and who should be your roommates.

5.  After feeding the webform with your data and wishes, it will calculate the amount of money you have to transfer to the organiser, El Leutzi.

6. A confirmation mail send to you will include the total sum, as well as my Bank- or PayPal-details.

Tournois & Manifestations / ClogCon 2018 - costs and info
« le: 04 septembre 2018 à 08:33:59 »
You may have seen a few promos to attend ClogCon in 2018 (http://clogcon.com/).  If you haven't been to this con before, you might be worried about costs and value.  Here's a bit of my personal expenses so you can get an idea.

Flight Heathrow to Amsterdam return:  £136
Transfer from airport to hotel:  Free
3 nights hotel stay including breakfast (2 people sharing):  £175
3 day weekend ticket including lunch:  £68
3 dinners outside the hotel:  £30

Total before beers:  £409 = €453

I hope you can see that is remarkable value for 3 full days of gaming in either Warmachine/Hordes, Guild Ball, Judgement, or Blood Bowl.  The organisers are seasoned veterans having started this con in 2013 and I've been to every one in support of the American-style gaming convention here in Europe.  The hotel it's held in allows you to sleep right above the gaming hall so it's super convenient to play.  And the hotel's breakfast and lunch buffets are truly remarkable.  You'll feel like you are at a wedding with the high level of variety and quality.

  Interested?  Then register here:  http://www.clogcon.com/registration/

And hurry to reserve your rooms because the reduced convention rate ends on Thursday.  You don't have to pay up front to reserve the rooms, so even if you are remotely interested, reserve the rooms now and then just cancel later if you have to.  Hope to see you there!

Discussions sur le jeu et les rumeurs / WTC 2017 seeks referees.
« le: 11 avril 2017 à 18:31:29 »
Now that all the team spots have been locked in for the 2017 edition of the WTC, the Committee is seeking volunteers to be part of our Warmachine and Hordes referee team. We are looking for a broad range of nationalities to be on the team. We are also looking for people who have a good grasp of the rules and preferably have experience being in a similar role at larger events.

We are seeking 7 members for the WTC itself and need 1 member to run the Solo Masters.

As part of the effort, volunteers will have their room and board paid for. Please email us at committee@wmh-wtc.com to let us know of your interest and a bit about your background. Thanks very much.

This year's schedule is packed full of tournaments, such as the ClogCon Masters, the Team Challenge, Champions, Hardcore (!), multiple Steamrollers, and of course the ClogCon Invitational for which you can qualify for by winning tournaments at ClogCon.

We will also have ample space for casual gaming on all 3 days and will be hosting a ClogCon version of Iron Arena. The current tournament schedule can be found in the link http://www.clogcon.com/schedule/

ClogCon 2017 will be held in Amsterdam, at the Hotel Schiphol A4. There is a free shuttle bus that leaves every 40 minutes, taking you to the hotel and back, to Schiphol Airport. The hotel has several types of rooms ranging from 1 person to 4 person rooms and include breakfast. Be sure to use the reservation form to get the special convention room rate.  http://www.clogcon.com/hotel-booking/

Tournois & Manifestations / The 2016 European Invitational at ClogCon
« le: 21 décembre 2015 à 11:39:31 »
We are pleased to announce the confirmed Qualifiers for the 2016 European Invitational held at ClogCon. For full rules, the list of tournaments, and the bracketed system, visit the European Invitational webpage.

http://www.clogcon.com/eu-invitational-2016/

This year we decided to increase the number of Qualifiers up to 32 to allow even more nations to fully participate. We've introduced a few Wildcard tournaments to help fill any gaps in the brackets. Otherwise the successful format, as seen at this year's ClogCon, was left intact.

We hope you have a chance to participate in as many of these fine tournament Qualifiers as possible and look forward to seeing you at ClogCon in November.

Have you made plans to come to ClogCon yet?  It's just 6 weeks away on December 11-13.  Just before Cryxmas, it is the present you deserve to cap off your year.

This is ClogCon's 3rd year and has grown even stronger with every passing year. This year for just one entrance fee of just 50 Euro, gamers can expect nearly 24 hour gaming over the course of Friday - Sunday. For full details about the event, its location, and the latest news, visit our website. http://www.clogcon.com/

ClogCon will have every official format for the game of Warmachine and Hordes that Privateer Press currently endorses, including the soon to discontinued Hardcore format.  This means players will be able to compete for official Hardcore pins, the Masters trophy, and an official Iron Gauntlet pin.

In addition, ClogCon is host to the European Invitational, which only invites players who have won major tournaments around Europe. But fear not, one spot in the Invitational is reserved here in our Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ). Details on the Invitational are here:  http://www.clogcon.com/eu-invitational-2015/

ClogCon is also not just for tournament players. It is for anyone who enjoys playing the game. We have special tables set aside for players to find one another and play more informal games and win prizes. We'll also be setting up informal Scramblers where we will light off small (3 round) mini-tournaments in a relaxed atmosphere. So do bring all of your friends/clubmates because there is something for everyone at ClogCon.

The Full ClogCon 2015 Schedule of Events can be found here, http://www.clogcon.com/schedule/ Have any questions?  Just get in touch with us, but don't miss this great American-style convention and meet all kinds of international European players.

I know this is close to the proposed London/Paris dual event which takes place in January and March 2016, but I thought I'd let you know about our team event in case a bunch of Frenchies wanted to come over.  Here are the details, but in short it is 3-man teams using WTC rules:

Warmachine: London Team Tournament Ticket

The Cross Gaming Club in association with Dark Sphere presents

THE LONDON TEAM TOURNAMENT
Saturday 14th November

Prepare yourselves for the third annual Warmachine and Hordes London Team Tournament, returning to the calendar like an out of control steam train barreling down the track towards you.

Up to 16 teams of three players will take part in a standard Steamroller style tournament lasting up to four rounds. The games will be played using the Deathclock timing variant, as per the Steamroller pack.

Each player must bring two 50 point lists, and the event is Divide and Conquer (1), meaning that each list must be used at least once throughout the day. Note that for the purposes of Divide and Conquer, the event is assumed to be four rounds long.

Warcasters and Warlocks may not be repeated across a team, and players lists are character restricted.
However, the team is neither faction nor character restricted, so you may (for example) include two Cygnar players with Gorman di Wulfe in one each of their lists, but only one player may use Major (epic) Victoria Haley.
Each team has a nominated captain who is responsible for filling out paperwork and ensuring data is entered correctly. It is recommended that the captain buy the team's ticket.

Team captains must submit all 6 lists for their team two weeks ahead of the tournament to ensure they are correct, and to allow us to publish them in advance to encourage inter-team rivalry and gentle ribbing. And outright rudeness.

Lists must be submitted to tournaments@crossgamingclub.com before midnight on Friday 30th September.
Please submit all lists using the Steamroller PDFs found here: http://tinyurl.com/SRsheets
...as it will make our lives much easier when checking them, and yours much easier when filling them out.
Please ensure that team names are included in the player name section alongside the player's actual name.

A player matching system is used for this event, essentially forming a mini-game before the games begin, inspired by the WTC Matching system.

The team captains roll-off, with the winner deciding to be either the first team or second team.
Once this has been decided, the first team nominates one player, who shows their lists to the second team.
The second team then puts up two players, who show their lists to the first team.
The first team decides which of these players they would like their nominated player to play, which sets the first matchup.
The second team now choses the match ups from the remaining four players.
Because this process favours the second team, the first team then picks which of the nominated tables each match is played on.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask! The easiest way to get hold of the event organisers (Tom Hutchings and Norbert Brunhuber) is via the Cross Gaming Club forums (http://www.crossgamingclub.com/forum) or the Cross Gaming Club Facebook page (facebook.com/crossgc), where we'll endeavour to answer your questions as quickly as we can.

A ticket to this event is for a three player team, and players do not need to purchase their tickets individually.

« le: 28 juillet 2015 à 08:36:39 »
Don't miss out on all the fun at this 3-day American-style convention

ClogCon is back for 2015 and better than ever!  This newsletter will have a short overview of what we have planned and is also here to tell you that tickets go on sale this Saturday, August 1st at 11 AM Amsterdam time.  You can buy your 3-day pass for €50 via our Registration Page.  Registration will end on November 1st. http://www.clogcon.com/registration/

This is ClogCon's 3rd year and has grown even stronger with every passing year.  This year for just one entrance fee, gamers can expect nearly 24 hour gaming over the course of Friday - Sunday on December 11-13 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.  For full details about the event, its location, and the latest news, visit our website.  http://www.clogcon.com/

ClogCon will have every official format for the game of Warmachine and Hordes that Privateer Press currently endorses.  This means players will be able to compete for official Hardcore pins, the Masters trophy, and earn official Iron Gauntlet points.  In addition, ClogCon is host to the European Invitational, which only invites players who have won major tournaments around Europe.  But fear not, one spot in the Invitational is reserved here in our Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ).  http://www.clogcon.com/eu-invitational-2015/

The way registration will work is that when you buy a ticket, you also enter in the top 3 events you want to play in.  We will then assign your top choice pending availability, so it pays to register early!  However on-site, waiting lists will be available at each event where you can sign up on the day as well.  We have also designed the schedule such that you can drop after 2 rounds in a morning tournament and still have time to potentially enter in the afternoon tournament.

So, in the interest of starting to connect London with Paris, and perhaps other parts of France, I wanted to let you know about a tournament we have coming up soon.

WTC Team England London Qualifier
Saturday, August 15th 2015
Registration 8-9 AM
Dice fly 9 AM
Award ceremony around 9:30 PM
Dark Sphere, near Waterloo station
Cost:  £10
Ticket sales page:  http://www.darksphere.co.uk/p.php?p=62637

This event is one of the main tournaments being used by the Warmachine and Hordes WTC Team England organisers as a qualifier to help select English players to join the 2016 WTC team. The top 3 players at this event will be invited to the selection event in January. For information and news about Team England, visit their website https://englandwmhwtc.wordpress.com/

All players are welcome to join the event, but only players living in England can qualify for the team. This will be run using the Masters rule set at 50 points. Link to the rules is here. http://privateerpress.com/organized-play/masters

32 spots are available and so we anticipate running 5 rounds on the day. Timings reflect the event running 5 rounds; it will end earlier if only 4 rounds are needed to find a winner.

Players not in contention for the win who wish to voluntarily drop after the 4th round are welcome to do so. Please visit this forum post to discuss the event and ask any questions.  http://www.crossgamingclub.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=5011

The store is very near the Tube station named Lambeth North, which is on the Northern Line.  The Northern Line runs through the same station as the EuroStar.  If players wanted to come on Saturday morning, please let me know and I'll think about making the event start a little later so that you can arrive on time.

We look forward to seeing you there!

This is the third year for the Iron Moot, one of the few American-styled conventions that is held in Europe. If you loved SmogCon or just want to finally see what all the fuss is about a Warmachine/Hordes-themed convention, I highly recommend you make plans to come to the Iron Moot. This will be my 3rd time attending and can't wait. All the information is on their website: http://ironmoot.se/ but here are the key pieces of information so that you can start planning to come. Hope to see you there!

Dates
The event will be held the second weekend of August (7th to the 9th).

Venue
The event will be held at the Apple Hotel (http://www.applehotel.se/), a conference hotel which is located just east of Gothenburg city centre in Sweden. All gaming will be done at the hotel. In addition, they have reserved 15 double rooms (900 SEK/night), 5 three bed rooms (1100 SEK/night) and 3 single bed rooms (700 SEK/night) for the weekend so gamers can stay on-site. If you stay at the Apple Hotel, included in the hotel price is breakfast, coffee during the day, lunch and dinner buffet in the evening. This means that if you choose to stay at the hotel, you get breakfast, lunch and dinner served (AND INCLUDED!), without having to leave the hotel. The prices above are not the same as if you book through their homepage or other channel. In order to get the price above you will need to call or email the hotel and state the following booking reference: 479224. The rooms will be held until 24-April after which the hotel can no longer guarantee them. Payment is upon arrival.

Food and Beverages
As is their tradition, lunch for every day will be included in the ticket price, even if you don't stay at the Apple Hotel. Since the event is held at the Apple Hotel we will have access to the hotel bar and might even have a personal bar at the main gaming area. The hotel has a small arrangement of snacks and sodas similar to the kiosk they've had in previous years. For those not staying at the hotel wanting dinner there is a MAX Hamburger restaurant 50m from the Hotel and the tram and train stations is 150m in either direction with just a couple of stops to central station or other areas where there are restaurants. There is also a big ICA (groceries) store nearby.

Registration
Registration will open on the 1st of March and will close the 30th of June. The price for the ticket is the same as last year, 500 SEK (~53 EURO). Included in the ticket prize is:

• Access to the event
• Reservation for a spot in (at least) one tournament per day
• Lunch each day you attend (served at the Hotel)

Tournaments

All 3 days:
Iron Arena styled casual gaming - gain achievement points just by playing lots of games against new people
Pick-up Scramble tournaments (small informal tournaments for fun)

Friday:
Swedish Masters (cap at 64 players)
Hardcore (cap at 32 players)

Saturday:Iron Gauntlet Qualifier (cap at 64 players)
Road to the Invitational (cap at 32 players)

Sunday:Nordic Invitational (16 qualified players) - this is also a Qualifier for the European Invitational at ClogCon in December.
Team Tournament (16 teams of three players)

Painting competition
More information on the competition to come, but expect the categories to be the same as or close to the same as the P3 Grandmaster rules. Those rules can be found at: http://privateerpress.com/formula-p3/gen-con-formula-p3-grandmaster-painting-competition-rules. The prizes for the tournament will not be cash prizes but will come out of the general prize pool.

There are also a number of Alternate Qualifier events. Each Alternate event is connected to one or more Qualifiers.
The winner of a Qualifier event earns a spot in the Invitational that is predetermined by the published Bracket.
If the winner of a Qualifier event has already won a Qualifier, the 2nd place ranked player in the tournament earns the spot.
If the final two opponents in a Qualifier have both earned a spot already, the Alternate Qualifier event associated with the Qualifier event become active. The winner of the Alternate event earns the active spot.  If the winner of the Alternate has already won a Qualifier, the 2nd place ranked player earns the spot.

The Invitational will be run as a normal tournament (ie it will not be an elimination style event). Therefore the Invitational will end with a ranked order of players.  The only exception is that the winning group’s matchups will be dictated by the published Invitational Bracket system.
The Invitational will be run as a 2 list required, 50 point Steamroller 2015 tournament using Deathclocks; however, players will NOT be required to use each list.
Models used at the Invitational must be painted and based.

Each Qualifying event* has agreed to provide the army lists of their top 3 players which will be published at Page5.de so that players can follow along with the evolving game over the course of the year.  Furthermore, each of the Qualfiers* has promised to raffle off a ticket to their 2016 events at ClogCon so that players attending have the opportunity to see these events first hand.  Finally, Page5.de have agreed to cover all the events at ClogCon including video recording of select Invitational games as well as interviewing players on site.We are excited to kick off this important tournament for the European community and look forward to working with all the important Qualifying event organisers from around the region.  We wish all the players looking to earn a spot at the Warmachine European Invitational the best of luck.

Exciting news!  RatCon (August 1-3, 2014 in Unna, Germany) is kicking off this year with a full suite of Privateer Press activities.  This convention offers everything you'd expect at an American-style convention including loads of competitive events, casual play, and hobby-related activities.  Plus it is set within a convention so there are non-Privateer Press activities available.  It's really great to see how many of these types of conventions are happening around Europe these days.

The price is a steal at €25.  I know the lead organisers as well and I have complete faith that they will be putting on a great event for everyone, so I encourage you to go.  For details about the event and the timetable, download these PDF documents:

On the 3rd page of the main document, you'll find an email address to contact Dirk, the head organiser to answer any questions.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for referees from your country to join the team in charge of the WTC and soloMasters event in Poland this year.  If you have experience judging events and want to attend, please get in touch with me.  We can provide free entrance, free room, free food, and some money to help with your travel costs.  Thanks for considering it.

Smogcon: You are not prepared.

It is with great pleasure that the Smogcon organisers release a brochure and new website with full details about what we have in store for Smogcon 2014. Visit http://smogcon.org to view the information and download the brochure. Dates are February 21-23, 2014.

Smogcon is a unique gaming event held in the UK and modelled after fabled American gaming conventions like Templecon, Warmachine Weekend, and Lock N Load. This will be the 3rd year of the event and it has practically exploded with activities compared to the first two years. Any Warmachine/Hordes and Malifaux gamer within traveling distance of England should plan to come to this event. Also players interested in High Command, Dropzone Commander, and Bushido will have some activities to look forward to.

Full information is available in the brochure, but the key thing to know is that this is a 24 hour gaming party lasting 3 full days. It is not a single tournament, or even just tournaments. It is all that plus casual play (similar to Iron Arena), painting classes and painting competitions, open board and card gaming and RPG sessions. To briefly explain the concept, you pay one price to get a weekend long ticket and then you can participate in any of the activities on offer, all day and night long.  The exception is for the competitive painters out there; we are offering you Sunday-only tickets if you’d like to come and just enter in the painting competition, of which there are many categories to consider.

What makes this all possible is hosting the event within a hotel that has sleeping rooms and event space, all in the same building. The advantages are that you can go up to your room at any time for a quick nap or to pack away your bags and then head back down to your next activity. You can eat and drink at the site and socialise with friends old and new without ever leaving the action. It is a new and awesome gaming experience in Europe.

Early bird tickets are on sale now and are lower than the normal ticket price for a limited time. Very affordable room rates are also locked in for you to take advantage of. We recommend you take a look and share the information with your friends. Please ask us any questions you may have. We cannot promise you will survive until Monday morning, but we can promise it will be worth it. Hope to see you there!
