Hi guys and gals,

I want to invite you a nice tournament which will be held in Germany in Ausgust in the "Ruhrpott"- Area

The Eisenhammer is a 5 player WTC-style team-tournament:

What?
5-man team tournament for 60 people (12 teams). This will result in four rounds of WTC-like experience. We'll play four rounds no matter what. The main tournament should finish around 21:30-22:00.

When?

6.8.2016, starting at 9:00.

Where?
Zum Eisenhammer 3d, Oberhausen, Germany

Rules?
We are using the WTC2016 rules. No gimmicks. You can obtain the rules in the WTC2016 players pack here [wmhwtc.wordpress.com/wtc-players-pack/]. We will collect lists at a later time (date to be announced) and will print them out for you.

How to get there?
Via Car:
Drive to the specified adress, which is located in an industrial park. You will find parking space available at the venue.

Via Public Transport:
You can travel to Oberhausen Hauptbahnhof via public transport. The venue is a mere 15min walk from there. Alternatively, you can take a bus from Oberhausen Hauptbahnhof, which will do the job in just about 2mins. There is a bus stop aptly named 'Eisenhammer' directly in front of the venue.

Via Oberhausen Fernbushaltestelle:
If you are traveling from the Netherlands, you can book a long distance bus directly from Amsterdam to Oberhausen Fernbushaltestelle. The company is called 'Flixbus' [flixbus.de/] and will bring you from Amsterdam to Oberhausen in 2h25mins for 15 Euros without the need to change bus. This is obviously extremely convenient, so to all our Dutch friends: Strongly consider attending this event.

Take my money?
The event is 15 Euro per player, resulting in a total fee of 75 Euro per team.

What more?
We will offer Tea/Water for free. Coffee, Softdrinks and small snacks will be available at a very affordable price.

You can book an additional package. It is completely optional, but we need to know in advance (i.e., when you book, not at the venue).

Optional package: 8 Euro. Includes a beer flatrate. Yes, you heard that right.

Still unsure, if you want to participate? Click here for pictures from the first Eisenhammer event. Since it costs a lot of time and money to come for a one-day tournament, we will happily arrange games on Friday and or Sunday for you (and us,  D'OH) all in the spirit of the new Mk3 rule set.

I hope to see you there!

Alfredo

Awesome event! I really enjoyed may stay - even though I had to play against Cryx 5 times. Really Adrien, what did I do to you to deserve that?  ;)

@ZergSpirit: Thanks a lot for organizing the event, it really was super awesome!

@juju: I'm still sorry for dice in our game. They were hillarious! ;-)

So more or less bottom line: I'll talk to Dönerman and try to school him. Hopefully he will learn.

Well it seems that most of what happened was probably more due to sloppy play than actual cheating.

It's alwas a little bit "dangerous" to imply intent when s.o. makes a mistake while gaming. Mistakes and misunderstandings  may come from a lot of sources especially when both players talk in a foreign language. Doing them intently is what we call cheating and judging intent can be really difficult. I would say most of the times the mistakes and misunderstandings I see in WM/H games come from different viewpoints (Player A:It was clear to me that it was more than 3" Player B: well it wasn't to me), simply forgetting something or remembering sth. wrong. Then there is sloppy play and at the end there will be guys who cheat (I won't deny that).

Just to give you three examples for mistakes which could be misread or misunderstood as cheating from my stay at the aswesome thing that the French Masters are:

In my first game against Edolith he played Lich2 against my Grim2. He said to me he is still pretty new and I tried to tell him what my army does and I gave him my cards. I honestly forget to tell about Mage Sight and he probably didn't look all too closely at Grims cards. On turn 2 I killed Gaspy because Mage Sight allowed me to ignore the cloud he has casted. I felt bad because I forgot to tell him about it and he was a bit upset because if he knew about it he would probably done sth. else (on the other hand he cast only one cloud and I'm pretty sure I could have still killed him without Mage Sight, but whatever).

In my next game aginst Zul I played against Skarre2. I don't really remember much of it (playing seven games eats my brain), only that he was a really nice opponent. I think the game went pretty well for me, but I was low on clock. So I was in a hurry to finish my turn and he keeps asking me stuff about rules and I answered "Oh come on, stop eating my clock" in what I thought was jovial tone. But it probably came across far more aggravated than I intended because I was unter some stress. His reaction was that he sincerly apologized and I got the impression that he thought I was really pissed, which I really wasn't.

Bevor I played against ATP Dönerman came to me and he told me I should be wary of ATP because he cheats (!). I was quite surprised because even though I didn't knew Alessandro beforehand, Robin and Emiliano talked about him (I think it was either on Iron Week or Clog Con) and that he is a really good player and nice guy. No one mentioned any cheating. Dönerman then continued to say that three times he asked sth. and when he demanded to see the cards the answers were wrong. This is probably a really good example of a simple mistake ATP made. The first thing he (ATP) said to me at the table was: I'm still new to Circle, please feel free to double check anything. He still beat my ass fair and square but I'll get him next time (*shakes fist*) ;-)

What also happened in my games:

While the game against ATP was played a lot of folks gathered around the table and watched because it was the only semifinal still going on. Adrien real-time judged the whole thing (thanks for that one) and on one occassion he told me that I marked one box less than I should have. No-one thought I wanted to cheat (or did you?), I marked the box said I'm sorry and we continued to play the game.

The day before I played against Cheveau's Skarre1 and he was getting a little bit hectic and rolled  attacks on Mulg with MechThralls under Dark Guidance. He was playing fast and rolled the attacks, took the dice and rolled damage. I was marking damage and it was all getting really fast. On the last attack I only saw that two dice were ones but he was already rolling for damage. I asked what the attack roll was. He scoffed and said that he scored a hit. I said there were two ones involved and I'm not so sure. He then rolled the attack again rolling sth. like 4,5,6 and I was like come on there was a low roll involved. Luckily for me Mouskapet was watching the game and he said it was 1,1,4. Mulg was Def13 at that time (Transmute) so that's a miss. I never assumed that Cheveau wanted to cheat. He probably thought you cannot miss Mulg with three attack dice (which is not far from the truth). So we just carried on and finished the game.

The last two examples show that we all make mistakes and it happens alot in this game . That doesn't mean were all cheating. And maybe talking about it at the table is better than whining about it on the forums, and even bring violence into it (if I - and Google Translator understand the postings right). Really you want to hit someone because of a game played with tin soldiers? And don't get me started on the foreigner angle, really :-/

TL;DR:
Dönerman plays probably a bit too sloppy, but  he is not a cheater.

Also man up and call him out at the table (like I did on more than one occasion), don't come whining afterwards.
