Full player ranking

For our local tournament league, we use a ranking ladder using an ELO rating. For grins, I ran the Templecon results through it as well, and the result can be seen at

http://www.wmladder.com/ranking/2

Note that I used an accelerated formula for the Templecon results. Normally your rating wouldn't go up during a single tournament so your opponents in subsequent rounds do not get treated differently, but that would make for uninteresting results for 7 events spaced so closely together. I also had to start everyone off at a rating of 1500, which does the earlier rounds injustice, but there you go.

It's pretty interesting to note if you click through to the individual results that Jamie Perkins took the top spot from Will Pagani in the Masters finals itself.

Faction Popularity

141 people played a single faction throughout the event,
19 people played 2 factions,
2 people played 3 different factions.

That makes for 185 different armies.

These armies were distributed as follows:

Cryx - 28 - 15.1%
Khador - 23 - 12.4%
Legion of Everblight - 22 - 11.9%
Cygnar - 22 - 11.9%
Circle Orboros - 22 - 11.9%
Mercenaries - 15 - 8.1%
Skorne - 14 - 7.6%
Protectorate of Menoth - 14 - 7.6%
Trollbloods - 11 - 5.9%
Minions - 8 - 4.3%
Retribution of Scyrah - 6 - 3.2%

55% of the armies were Warmachine, 45% were Hordes.

Performance

Global factions

Per faction, the win percentage is as follows:

Cryx - 58.3%
Skorne - 57.0%
Circle Orboros - 50.4%
Minions - 50.0%
Khador - 48.8%
Cygnar - 47.9%
Trollbloods - 47.8%
Protectorate of Menoth - 47.1%
Mercenaries - 46.0%
Legion of Everblight - 43.1%
Retribution of Scyrah - 42.9%

Notice that the total range of these is pretty low, no more than 8% either way. If you look at the top 10 players, they all have win rates of 75-100%. Supporting evidence that skill matters far more than faction choice, and that the balance between factions is pretty decent.

Faction matchups

If you pair up the factions, you could also look at the win percentage of each faction versus the others. Because there are 121 possible combinations and only ~500 games, these results are not always subtle or representative. Read from rows to columns, in percent:

Hope that was interesting to some people.

Starpu:
